X-Terrestrial, is an Editorial Magazine that uses illustration to bring sci-fi articles to life.
The Deliverables are a 28 Page Magazine, a Visual Identity and a series of illustrations that can be reused.
It all begins with stylization and creative direction. This illustrated editorial magazine is 28 pages. Meaning there are 13 layout spreads with a front and back cover.
To create a style, I had to draft approximately 6 spread layouts (12 pages) and based on the feedback I received decide what was working and what was not. This meant choosing the best way to layout the articles, provide type treatment for all the text, image editing and process for developing creative illustrations. This involved defining all these things so moving forward all elements would have a clear direction and elements would be more cohesive and consistent.
When working on this, during the middle of working on this project was Spring of 2020 when lockdowns began for COVID-19, right when I had my halfway milestone for this project. Approximately a week or two before that I also had a incident where someone had trespassed and my laptop had been stolen from my campus apartment. These things slowed me down, but I persisted with my files backed up and was able to finish and present my capstone project virtually!
